The appointment of five distinguished sons of Ajaokuta local government as administrators on 6thof May, 2016 by Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi state which is spearheaded by Hon. Mustapha Akaaba and seconded by Hon. Jibril Abu has brought smile to the faces of Ajaokuta dwellers.
Before their appointments, Ajaokuta LGA was characterized by insecurity, dilapidated economy, bad infrastructures, lack of social amenities and lawlessness, but the advent of the duo has brought succour to the above mentioned challenges facing the area. Their achievements after one year in office are highlighted thus;
SECURITY
Akaaba first three months in office brought maximum security to the area as the no-nonsense administrator struggled it out with the criminals parading Ajaokuta-Okene highways by equiping and encouraging the security operatives in the area to bring the criminals down. This he did by meeting with all the security agents in the area such as the police, the army, and the local vigilantees immediately. He met the immediate challenges of the police by providing enough matrasses for their comfort and as well attended to their financial challenges which was necessary  in fueling their patrol vehicles to combat the criminals.
This act alone is enough to score the administrators high as people can now sleep with their two eyes closed and travel to Okene, a commercial town freely for business activities and this has also contributed to the economic growth of the area.

EDUCATION
It is no longer a meresay that education is the bedrock of the nation and a society that donot take education seriously is likely to collapse at the near future. Looking critically at the above sayings, Akaaba Mustapha and his men took education a priority by paying school fees to some Ajaokuta deserving students who have no means to an end, as well as distributing books and stationery to pupils and students of primary and secondary schools. He and his men went further to pay some student’s external examination registration fees. Above all, he built an examination hall, a block of two classrooms and a principal office, all at Community Secondary School, Emi-Woro.
HEALTH
Having known that health is wealth, the honourable administrator has performed tremendously in the health sector. He renovated and equipped Ebiya Primary Healthcare Centre, organized training for health workers in the area, organize eyeplus treatment and surgery, paid hospital bills for some citizens who could not pay for their hospital bills due to financial constraint, and above all provided drugs and other materials in all the Primary Healthcare Centre across the local government
WORKS
As a lover of good infrastructures, the talk-and-do administrator and his team executed a colossal electrification project which connects Adogo-Eganyi-Ebiya communities to Geregu power substation. It could be recalled that the people of Adogo-Eganyi-Ebiya communities had been in total darkness before the inauguration of Hon. Akaaba and his team. He (Akaaba) took it upon himself to once again electrify the area. In his words “If this is my only achievement in office, I will be proud to say I have put smile on the faces of my people”. Having known that electricity is necessary for the economic development of the area, the administrator put in all efforts to make the project a reality. The people of the area are now happy enjoying electricity after staying almost a year in darkness.
The administrator also embarked on the grading of Obatoto, Epiri, Ogigiri, Achagana roads. He repaired over 50 boreholes across the area, revamp electrical transformers in Achagana, Ogigiri, Odonu and Ebiya, repaired the local government graders and tractors, as well as refurbishment and distribution of Ambulances to the three districts.
WELFARE
Having taking into cognizance that people’s welfare is of utmost importance for effective governance and to aid President Muhammadu Buhari’s Social Investment Programme, the young, energetic, and pragmatic administrator distributed food stuff to the poor and vulnerables in all  the 14 wards of the local government. He equally provided financial aid to the victims of the recent rain-storm whose houses were badly affected.
With the achievements mentioned so far, it is no longer gainsay that Hon. Akaaba Mustapha and his cooperative team has done so well as a way of promoting the New Direction blueprint of His Execellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi state.
I therefore use this opportunity to appeal to the people of Ajaokuta local government to support the administration of Akaaba Mustapha as well as commend the efforts of the young administrator and his team for bringing dividends of democracy closer to the people.
